Detroit Recovery Project (DRP) is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to supporting substance abuse recovery which strengthens, rebuilds, and empowers individuals, families and communities, including those experiencing co-occurring mental illness. This is accomplished by enabling access to integrated networks of effective and culturally competent holistic health services. DRP is part of the Detroit Recovery Project Coalition, a partnership of state, local and community level agencies and individuals who share a commitment to keeping youth in the city of Detroit drug-free.

DRP is open to anyone who is ready to learn how to live a sober, responsible, and meaningful life full of promise and fun. Whether you have completed treatment at a residential treatment center program or have never been to a drug rehab program, the DRP recovery support program can serve as your next step forward. DRP is here to help you transform your life.

Since its inception in 2005, DRP has served thousands of Detroit-area residents by providing an array of support services vital to achieving long-term recovery from alcoholism and other drug dependencies. These services include:

  • Outpatient treatment
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Rapid HIV testing
  • Hepatitis vaccinations
  • Family re-integration assistance
  • 12-step support groups
  • Alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention
  • Employment training
  • GED classes

DRP offers several special programs to help those in recovery and their families including:

  • Recovery Management Program, designed to decrease recidivism and offer a second chance at life through recovery
  • Strengthening Families Program, to provide support and skills training to strengthen the family unit
  • Health Education Program, to provide information on living a healthier life
  • HIV Prevention, to provide outreach to ex-offenders and other at-risk individuals

DRP also provides a number of innovative, peer-to-peer support services for people in recovery and their families, including:

  • Recovery Support, provided through mentorship opportunities, daily support groups, 12-step meetings, learning circles and meditation/spirituality groups
  • Social Support, including various safe and sober activities such as poetry jams, karaoke, annual marches and rallies, bowling and basketball leagues
  • Weekly Recovery Management Workshops to help those in recovery prevent relapse
  • Life Skills, including GED preparation, employment readiness and health education workshops
  • Housing Assistance provided to individuals who participate in the Recovery Management Program
